The majority of women are very pleased with the results of their cosmetic breast procedures. But sometimes following breast surgery, such as breast lift, breast reduction, or breast enlargement, Orange County women need the help of a skilled surgeon to correct unsatisfactory results. Revision breast surgery can correct a variety of concerns including:

  • Undesired breast shape
  • Unattractive scars
  • Poor nipple position
  • Breast asymmetry (uneven size or shape)
  • Incorrect breast size (too large or too small)
  • Implant problems
  • Capsular contracture

During your private consultation at his Orange County plastic surgery office, Dr. Kemsley will ask you about your concerns and perform an examination so that he can determine a cause and recommend a solution. He also can use Patient Imaging Software to help you visualize your possible results.

About the Surgery

Breast surgery revision is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. The length of the surgery depends on how extensive a repair is required, but it is typically completed in about an hour or two. Patients are either heavily sedated with twilight anesthesia or under general anesthesia. Revision breast surgery often requires a higher degree of surgical skill because the doctor must make changes to internal anatomy that already has been altered. For this reason, it is particularly important for women considering breast surgery revision to find a highly-qualified surgeon.

Recovery

In some cases, recovery from breast surgery revision can be quicker than with the initial breast enhancement surgery. Patients may experience swelling and bruising at first with moderate soreness for two to three days. Most women can return to work four to five days after the procedure and resume more strenuous activity in approximately two weeks. Dr. Kemsley will share more details about what you can expect during the recovery period when he evaluates your individual case during the consultation.
