As a woman ages, her skin loses its elasticity and the shape and firmness of her breasts can deteriorate. Pregnancy and breast-feeding can also cause the skin to stretch and breasts to sag. Significant weight loss can have a similar effect. Breast lift surgery, called Mastopexy, can raise and reshape breasts, and reposition nipples to a higher, more youthful position.

After pregnancy some women also experience a reduction in size in addition to sagging. In these cases we may also recommend a breast implant to essentially fill in the loose skin. The two procedures together can help improve your breasts' firmness and size.

The Procedure
During the breast lift procedure we make an incision around the areola to and along the breast crease, remove excess skin and reposition the tissue and nipples. The size of the areola, the dark skin around the nipple, can also be reduced during the breast lift. The procedure can generally be performed on an outpatient basis under either local or general anesthesia. During recovery, you may experience temporary bruising, swelling and discomfort. Most patients express great satisfaction with the procedure.

Patient Imaging Software is used to guide patients from their current appearance to a representative post-operative outcome.

If you're considering a breast lift, we invite you to come in for a consultation to meet with Dr. Kemsley and find out more about the procedure.
