Fat grafting is done to fill in hollow or depressed areas on your face or body. Fat grafting has been around for over 10 years and improvements in the surgical technique have made it very successful. Fat grafting will improve the shape and appearance of any place on the body that needs to be filled in.

The fat is obtained with a gentle type of liposuction usually done from the abdomen or thighs. The fat is washed and prepared and then injected into the new site through a needle. No incisions or sutures are needed. Some of the grafted fat shrinks so we usually overfill the areas. Areas such as the upper face have minimal shrinkage. Areas with a lot of movement, like around the mouth, or areas with poorer circulation, will have more shrinkage. These areas either need to be significantly overfilled or have multiple treatments. There is rarely any discomfort after fat grafting. Some patients may have swelling and bruising, others may have little. We have found this procedure to give wonderful results with minimal or no downtime.
